One Small Step:
Posted 01 December 2008

Add a little punch to your regular walking routine by incorporating power walking.

Power walking isn’t much different from your regular walk, you just need to pump your arms (yes, you’ll like a bit like a crazed chicken, but it’s really what gets you moving) and walk faster. By making these small tweaks, you'll raise your heart rate and burn more calories.

By power walking 30 minutes a day five times a week, you could lose a half a pound a week.

It’s a good idea to plan your route so you don’t have to slow down; circular routes in parks are always a safe bet.

With power walking it’s essential to warm up and cool down and it’s very important to wear comfortable, supportive shoes.

Go ahead, give it a go.
