Fruit and Oat Smoothie

No time for breakfast? No worries. This smoothie takes just a couple of minutes to whizz up, and contains oats, which release their energy slowly to keep you feeling fuller for longer. Keep a bag of frozen fruits in the freezer to make this an easy standby.

Serves 1. Calories per serving: 365

Nutrition Benefit

Oats are a good source of soluble fibre, which is digested slowly and keeps blood sugar levels steady. Soluble fibre can also help to reduce cholesterol levels. Low fat yoghurt and milk and good sources of calcium, which support bone health.

Ingredients

  • 1 small banana
  • 2 - 3 handfuls of frozen berries or strawberries
  • 75g (about 5tbsp) low fat vanilla yoghurt (or plain yoghurt)
  • 1 cup (around 200ml) skimmed or soya milk
  • 25g rolled oats (around a heaped tbsp)


How to:

  • 1. Break the banana into chunks. Place all the ingredients in a blender and blitz until smooth. If the smoothie si too thick, add a little extra milk. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
