BBQ buzz

Serve yourself up a sizzling summertime treat in the garden after a power walk around your local park.

Spicy chicken kebabs

Buzz factor: Ginger is valued by the Chinese as a brain stimulant, while chilli actually burns calories while you sweat it out. Garlic is believed to be an immune booster, guarding the body against viral infections.

Bonus points: Chicken is a fab low-fat protein booster.

172 calories per serving

Ingredients:
200g of chicken breast fillet
2 teaspoons of olive oil
1 red chilli, finely chopped
Chopped ginger
Lemon juice
1 red chilli, finely chopped
Freshly chopped parsley or coriander
Soy sauce
Season with freshly ground black pepper

How to:

  • Preheat the barbecue to high
  • Heat a wok and stir fry the olive oil, ginger, chilli, soy sauce and garlic until sizzling
  • Thread three pieces of chicken on the skewer and lay them on the barbecue grill
  • Grill the chicken for 10 minutes on each side
  • Slide the chicken off the skewers on to plates and lightly pour on the sauce
