Default My Big Fat Diet Show

Has anyone been watching this on Channel 4? It's been on on a Tuesday and Thursday for a couple of weeks. 5 women plus the presenter go on a two week diet to lose a dress size, eating just 1200 calories a day.

If you've seen it, what did you think of it? I looked at their website and many people were very impressed with it. I thought it was gimmicky and would be tough to stick to, but it was informative regarding which foods actually make up 100 calories in quantity (like one jaffa cake, half a mini pork pie etc).

I think the last programme is on tonight so it will be interesting to see what the results are.

I've been watching it too. I do like their pop up supermarket or whatever they call it. It does definately open your eyes to how many calories are in things. Think one got a real shock about per mini pork pies and how many she was consuming on a daily basis. Also interesting to see different lunches from outlets and members of the public guessing which is at the higher and lower end of the calorie scale. Some people on the low carb forum that I'm on really do not like the presenter and feel annoyed that not enough advice was given to the poor lady who put 2lb on in her first week. We always used to get some people at Slimming World who put on instead of off for the first week, its just your body getting used to the new eating regime. I may go on the website when I've found the link to download Matt's recipes - they did look nice

I also found the information useful on what you can have for 100 calories, and Matt's recipes are excellent, I will try a cpl of them.

I did not agree they seem to encourage people to starve themselves (1200 cal) for 2 weeks, then what??? go back to 'normal' - we all know we need to make some changes we stick to for longer than 2 weeks.

And 1200 cal means being hungry, very hungry, and they don't show enough how that affects people mentally - mood swings, headaches, ......

It would be better to educate people on changes they can incorprate in their lifestyle forever, and perhaps have 1500 or 1800 cal to start the weight loss.

Also very few seem to exercise - get them all a Fitbug !!!!!

Still good programme to watch Martine

If you look at the "Curves" website, they suggest you eat 1200 for one week, 1500 for the rest of the month then up to 2000. the weight you lose in the first week is your "low" weight when you go to 2000 you stay on that for 2-4 weeks, or till you put on 3lb. Then go back to 1200 till the 3lb is off. back to 2000 to finish the 2-4 weeks off, but going back to 12 as soon as you put 3lb on. When you have done that you start again at 1200 1 week 1500 2 till the end of the month. This is suppose to kid your body into that you are not dieting, by the time the body thinks you are - you have already put the calories back up, by losing 3lb it is better than losing 3lb +.
I have tried the 1200 and I was not hungry,
sorry for the long quickie
